This course is for a confident, conversational Japanese speaker living in Honolulu who wants to sound natural instead of textbook-correct. Your grammar and vocabulary already work. What this course polishes is the reflex layer: the real reply to a compliment, the small talk that keeps a conversation going, the idiom that lands, and knowing which register fits the moment.
Every English phrase is explained in natural Japanese, with a simple pronunciation respelling (and the sounds that trip up Japanese speakers flagged), the closest Japanese equivalent where one exists, and a short dialogue in context. Each lesson compares how the same situation goes in Japan versus in Honolulu, so the language comes with the reasons behind it.
For the English-speaking partner learning Japanese alongside: every Japanese line carries romaji and a plain-English gloss, so you can follow and practice too.
Eight lessons, about 90 minutes each, built to be done at your own pace. Standard American English only — no Hawaii Pidgin.
